Part 1: The Internet Connection

In terms of how fast I presently connect to the Internet, I can connect at a decent enough speed, with some lag here and there. According to the results of my bandwidth test my Wi-Fi and Internet signals show a level of 35 PING ms, 8.98 Mbps for download, and 11.82 Mbps for upload. We run our Internet from a direct cable connect from a modem in our basement. According to an Internet Speed Test run by Xfinity, my speed results should be around 24.2 Mbps for download, upload is 11.7 Mbps, and 24 ms for latency. Xfinity states on their website that their speeds should be compatible for being able to share multiple informations and basically just allowing them to connect at the same time. Since I have run multiple speed tests, and so far everything is roughly around the same area, as the first two tests were done last week, and the latest test was done this morning, it is clear that my Internet's latency is quite low compared to others.

Also, it is worth mentioning that the Xfinity xFi Speed Test I just took mentions that my Wi-Fi does indeed follow under solid performance, as I am able to send/receive email without a problem, browse the Internet, and stream HD video to at least 1080p. I cannot however stream 4K video or get speedy downloads. It is also worth mentioning that I just recently got a new laptop, but that should hardly effect the Internet connection, as it seems to be the same no matter which device I use, as they are both used from my room. Also, after discussing it, we have come to learn that our modem is outdated, as Xfinity seems to be really consistent in making sure that they produce new products to gain more money, and we have had our modem replaced multiple times, but the current one we have is considered out of date by now, despite only being a year or two old. Typically I also don't keep very many connections open, other than WinSCP, Notepad++, and Google Chrome, but that is only withstanding if I am currently in the process of coding for my web pages. We have a direct cable line to our modem, and we are actually not very far from our providers, but the speed of our computers is what tends to bog things down slightly, as most of our computers run slowly. Thus, this extensive look into my Internet's speed, bandwidth, etc, comes to a close.

Part 2: My Web Security

So after performing the Shields Up general test, (also known as UPnP) it states that "the equipment at the target IP address didn't respond to the UPnP probes", which the site says is good news. So in other words, our modem's networking is secure, which is something Xfinity is a good about security. According to the test results, we have no actual ports open for attackers to attempt to steal our data, information, etc. All of our devices do have good security, weather it be the Windows Defender app installed on our devices, as we are big Windows' Users, or the fact that Xfinity contains built in security to prevent our Wi-Fi from reading out dangerous websites, there is no doubt that everything is secured, especially concerning the test results which say so as well. We always try to make sure we have good security, but in some instances it may be a tad too stringent, as I can no longer normally access my student website on our own Wi-Fi now, which shows that Xfinity security is good, but also a bit of a problem if it means I can't access my web page through normal means, as the closest workaround we have found is to use my phone's Hot Spot to connect Wi-Fi, which will allow me to access my web page without any security blockage or threats. Needless to say, our anti-virus software seems to be registering everything the way it's supposed to, leading to our Internet being secure overall.

So this is the conclusion, and after running all of these tests, it is clear that my Internet is sub-par when it comes to speed and bandwidth, but good when it comes to security, confirming that our computers are secured to use for different things, but are kind of bad at handling the Internet and generally just their own memory management, which ends up leading to our computers running slowly. But overall, the test results seem to point to positive, meaning everything is fine with the computers. For more information regarding Xfinity Wi-Fi speeds, here are the sources that I used: Xfinity Gigabit Speeds and Xfinity Device Speeds.
